In 2013, I had a distinct vision after addressing a fundamental gap. I noticed many jobseekers requiring support with their job search, but also their brand marketing documents. It was not until I was captivated by a vision of the horizon that my business name was created. I thought to myself -- it's time to "think creatively and visualize a new career horizon", and this became my motto.
You see, I was first introduced to the resume at the age of 19. I was in a co-op training program and noticed that the instructor and employer were really emphasizing the value of the resume. This made me want to learn all I could about job search and the resume. It was about presenting oneself in a compelling manner, yet accurately and concisely. Job search back in the 90s was very different than now. Now, uncovering the hidden job market is essential. The job search is centred very much around networking.
I wondered what is it about the resume that makes employers or recruiters take notice. Several years later, ironically, I discovered a need to delve deeper to answering this question. I realized that the way that the information is gathered and how it is written and designed influences the reader's eye. A compelling resume can help the candidate gain buy-in whereas a lack-lustre resume has the power to being tossed away.
Throughout the years, the resume has changed significantly. Yet one things remains the same. The resume is a critical brand marketing tool that will help set you apart when done right. The LinkedIn is the perfect networking tool. In fact, the two go hand in hand as part of my Deluxe Career Package.
